Head of Engineering

to lead our engineering teams and help shape the future of our platform and products

Your Role

As our Head of Engineering, you will be responsible for leading multiple teams across various disciplines including frontend, backend, mobile, QA, and infrastructure. You will support the development and execution of our technical vision, working closely with the CTO, Product Management, and the CEO. Your leadership will ensure the delivery of high-quality software, foster team collaboration, and drive continuous improvement across engineering practices

We are looking for a strategic thinker who is also hands-on when needed. Someone who can build, coach, and scale high-performing teams, while owning the delivery of complex projects and driving innovation across the organization

What You’ll Do

• 
  Lead and mentor multiple engineering teams (2–5 teams, 15+ direct reports)
  

• 
  Take ownership of the entire software development lifecycle: planning, development, testing, deployment, and monitoring
  

• 
  Collaborate closely with Product Managers and the CTO to define, drive, and prioritize the engineering roadmap
  

• 
  Oversee system architecture decisions and technical design reviews
  

• 
  Implement and advocate best practices in agile development, security, and DevOps
  

• 
  Improve team collaboration, communication, and accountability
  

• 
  Hire, onboard, evaluate, and develop engineers to grow our team and culture
  

• 
  Represent the engineering department in leadership meetings and company-wide initiatives
  

• 
  Identify and address inefficiencies across the company’s engineering operations
  

What We’re Looking For

Must-Haves

• 
  Based in Berlin or willing to relocate
  

• 
  Proven experience leading multiple engineering teams in a SaaS or cloud-native environment
  

• 
  Strong technical background in at least one area (e.g., backend, frontend, mobile, data, infrastructure)
  

• 
  Deep understanding of agile software development, CI/CD, and DevOps culture
  

• 
  Experience in scaling teams, mentoring engineers, and conducting performance reviews
  

• 
  Strategic thinker with strong execution skills and a hands-on mindset
  

• 
  Excellent communication and leadership skills
  

Nice-to-Haves

• 
  Experience with modern cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP)
  

• 
  Familiarity with our tech stack (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, GitLab, Terraform)
  

• 
  Understanding of security best practices
  

• 
  Previous experience in printing or enterprise software domains
