What You’ll Do & Who You Are

We are looking for a passionate new team member to join us as a Senior Backend Engineer (d/f/m), Trust and Safety.

This is your opportunity to improve the experience of millions of users and have an impact by building a platform that enables sustainable trade for everyone. You will develop services for our trust and safety domain to prevent fraud and safeguard our users.

You will be part of a cross-functional team including members from Product, Customer Service, Analytics, and Engineering with the mission "to make our platform a safer place to trade".

This is a hybrid role, and our office is based in Berlin. You will report directly to the Tech Lead - Trust & Safety.

Your Tasks And Responsibilities.

• You will work together with Product and Design to develop the future of a safe and trusted kleinanzeigen.de platform
• Your will keep the platform's architecture clean, stable and scalable
• You will handle up to 60k requests per second while the platform is still growing
• You will promote your own ideas for code, process and product improvements
• You ensure quality and maintainability by improving build and test systems
• You bring in your own perspective of how our users' problems can be solved
  
  

Your skill profile

• Bachelor or Master's degree in computer science or related field (or equivalent experience)
• At least 8+ years of programming experience in Java backend development
• Knowledge of Core Java APIs, Spring Framework and Spring Boot. Proficiency in Kotlin is a plus.
• Experience with RDBMS or NoSQL (e.g. MySQL, Cassandra, Elasticsearch)
• You have a passion for writing clean code and an eye for simplicity and pragmatism.
• Your are familiar with operating microservices on public clouds (e.g. k8s and AWS)
• Knowledge of event-driven systems (Kafka) and distributed computing.
• Deep understanding of object-oriented and domain-driven design.
• Experience with continuous learning and knowledge sharing.
• Believer in collaboration and a DevOps mindset
• True team player mentality, with excellent collaboration-
• Business (fluent) in English, German is a plus.
