How You’ll Make An Impact
- Design, develop, and release mechanical components and drawings for PEM and AEM electrolysis stacks, ensuring alignment with quality standards and project requirements
- Lead the conceptualization, calculation, and optimization of stack components, driving innovation from initial concept to final product
- Act as a key technical counterpart to manufacturing and quality teams, ensuring seamless production processes and providing on-site support at our Gigafactory in Berlin
- Manage and maintain product-related data and documentation, supporting the transfer of designs to future product generations
- Optimize designs through "design to cost" initiatives, balancing efficiency, scalability, and performance
- Provide ongoing product care and contribute to the continuous improvement of electrolyzer stacks and their components
- Collaborate across disciplines—such as electrochemistry, system engineering, and procurement—to foster innovation and deliver high-performance, cost-effective solutions
- A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is required, with a strong preference for advanced degrees such as a Master’s or Ph.D.
- Several years of experience in mechanical design within high-performance system sectors, ideally with direct exposure to hydrogen or renewable energy technologies and development procedure in general
- Proven proficiency in 3D-CAD & 2D-CAD software (preferably NX) and hands-on experience with FEA/structural simulations and calculations (preferably using ANSYS Workbench)
- A deep understanding of electrolysis processes, particularly PEM or AEM, including design principles and manufacturing practices
- Knowledge of industry standards and regulations, such as the Pressure Equipment Directive, to ensure all designs meet compliance and safety requirements
- Strong communication skills, a proactive mindset, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in interdisciplinary teams to develop innovative solutions
