The Role:

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to work on our cloud operations platform turning the best data technologies into frustration-free cloud services. You’ll be part of the team that is focused on developing the relational database services and improving their scalability and reliability for our customers and OEM partners

Our philosophy is to deliver efficient and scalable solutions by continuously evolving and enhancing our product capabilities. Our own backend systems are mostly implemented in Python with bits of Java, Go and C

What You'll Do:

• 
  Contribute to high level technical and product strategy for Aiven for MySQL
  
• 
  Write high-quality, maintainable code and release quality features
  
• 
  Participate in technical discussions and perform PR reviews
  
• 
  Contribute to technical planning and backlog management
  
• 
  Help investigate and resolve customer issues
  
• 
  Mentor and empower other engineers
  
• 
  Automate processes to eliminate repetitive manual work
  
• 
  Develop and improve the scalability and reliability of the data services powered by Aiven, with a specific focus on MySQL
  

What We're Looking For:

• 
  8+ years of experience working with data-intensive workloads and/or DBaaS systems, specifically databases such as MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL, etc
  
• 
  Experience with backup solutions and backup strategies
  
• 
  Advanced understanding of Linux OS
  
• 
  Experience with large scale production architectures
  
• 
  Experience with automated testing
  
• 
  Distributed systems knowledge
  
• 
  Experience with performance improvements, bug fixes, and security vulnerability resolution
  
• 
  Experience with cloud infrastructure, provisioning, orchestration, IaC etc
  
• 
  Good understanding of security (software, networking)
  
• 
  Excellent demonstrable development skills in languages like Python, C, Go and Java
  
• 
  Fluency in English, verbal and written
  
• 
  Experience with one or more of Kafka, Clickhouse, Redis/Valkey, Opensearch is beneficial but not essential
