As a Payroll Solution Consultant, you will be part of the Go to Market organization, reporting to the Manager of Payroll Solutions Engineering. You will work primarily with our German sales team supporting sales opportunities and driving customer acquisition and exciting our customers to adopt our payroll solution, while working on fun and challenging projects that help drive our business and market growth. You will also be the interface between Sales, Payroll Product & Eng and Customer Success.

Role Responsibilities: What you'll do

• Own the presales motion for Payroll: Be a primary point of contact for our German sales team on all Payroll-related opportunities.
• Run compelling demos and discovery: Lead structured discovery sessions to uncover customer needs, and deliver tailored product demonstrations that clearly connect Personio Payroll to customer pain points and business outcomes.
• Validate and scope solutions: Collaborate with Account Executives to define technical requirements, validate product fit, and scope solution design, ensuring what's promised is deliverable.
• Be the domain authority: Act as a trusted advisor and subject matter expert on German payroll and payroll compliance requirements.
• Drive market strategy: Play a significant role in building Personio's German payroll market presence, partnering with Go-to-Market teams and feeding structured product feedback to influence Personio's payroll roadmap.
• Work AI-first: Actively use AI tools to scale your impact, from accelerating discovery prep and demo build, to drafting RFP responses, to surfacing patterns across deals. Bring ideas for where AI can replace or augment manual SE workflows, and help shape how the SE function evolves.
• Travel as needed: Visit customer sites as required (approx. 10–20% of time within Germany).
  
  

Role Requirements: What you need to succeed

• 5+ years of experience in Solutions Engineering, Presales, Sales Consulting, or a related customer-facing role with at least some exposure to HR or payroll software.
• German payroll expertise: You have expertise on HR/Payroll/Finance solutions and you're eager to develop deep expertise in payroll-related concepts and customer needs.
• Proven demo and discovery skills: Ability to run structured discovery sessions and deliver high-impact, tailored product demonstrations to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• SaaS and integration fluency: Comfortable discussing SaaS architecture, API integrations, and IT infrastructure at a level that builds customer confidence.
• Strong storytelling and communication: You can simplify complexity, adapt your communication style to the audience, and present confidently in front of C-level stakeholders.
• Analytical and data-driven: You are also data-driven, think analytically and are able to rightsize your efforts based on customer/business needs.
• High ownership and resilience: You bring energy, a hunter mindset, and a bias for action, you're comfortable operating in a fast-moving, evolving market.
• Cross-functional influence: You build credibility across Sales, Product, Engineering and CS — and know how to push back, prioritise, and broker tradeoffs without escalating.
• Language: Fluent in German (C2) and English (C1), written and verbal.

This role is office-based, with 3 days per week in your contracted office. The remaining days can be worked from home. You will also have 20 Flex Days per year to work remotely from other locations.
