IT Architect – E-Invoicing Platforms (Mid–Senior Level)

Location: Eastern Europe, Remote

Role Overview

A leading organisation within automotive financial services is undertaking a strategic transformation to streamline and consolidate a complex landscape of 16 invoicing applications into a modern, scalable e-invoicing architecture.

We are seeking a mid–senior level IT Architect to lead the design, standardisation, and evolution of the e-invoicing ecosystem across multiple markets.

This role will play a key part in defining target architecture, integrating platforms, and ensuring compliance with local and global regulatory requirements (e.g., e-invoicing mandates and tax compliance).

Key Responsibilities

Architecture Design

• Define and evolve the end-to-end architecture for e-invoicing solutions.
• Create scalable, modular, and reusable architecture patterns for invoicing
  
  

services.

• Lead the design of the target-state solution as part of the application
  
  

consolidation programme.

Application Consolidation

• Assess and rationalise a landscape of 16 invoicing systems.
• Develop roadmap(s) for consolidation, retirement, or modernisation.
• Ensure minimal business disruption during migration and transformation.
  
  

Integration & Interoperability

• Design integration patterns across ERP systems (e.g., SAP), finance platforms,
  
  

and third-party providers.

• Ensure seamless data flow between invoicing systems and downstream
  
  

applications.

• Support API-first and event-driven architecture approaches where applicable.
  
  

Compliance & Governance

• Ensure solutions comply with international e-invoicing regulations and tax
  
  

requirements (e.g., PEPPOL and local mandates).

• Contribute to architecture governance, standards, and design reviews.
• Work closely with security and risk teams to ensure compliance with internal
  
  

policies.

Stakeholder Collaboration

• Partner with business, finance, tax, and IT stakeholders across multiple markets.
• Translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Support vendor selection and manage key technology partners.
  
  

Technology Strategy

• Evaluate tools and platforms for e-invoicing (e.g., SaaS solutions, middleware,
  
  

integration platforms).

• Align architecture with broader cloud and digital strategy.
• Provide guidance on emerging technologies and best practices.
  
  

Skills & Experience

• Proven experience as an IT Architect / Solution Architect in enterprise
  
  

environments.

• Strong background in financial systems, invoicing, or billing platforms.
• Experience with application landscape consolidation / transformation
  
  

programmes.

• Solid understanding of integration technologies (APIs, middleware, messaging).
• Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., SAP) and financial processes.
• Knowledge of e-invoicing regulations and standards (e.g., PEPPOL, local
  
  

mandates).

• Experience designing cloud-based and/or hybrid architectures.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
