Mission

This is an entry-level role within Alpiq's Origination business in the Energy Solutions unit. The working student supports the German origination team in analyzing power market trends and structured products such as PPAs and BESS, contributing insights that inform customer offers and pricing decisions. Alongside this analytical work, the role also provides day-to-day operational support, acting as a first point of contact for a defined customer base and coordinating with internal stakeholders.

Your Main Responsibilities

• Operational Support & Customer Service: Assist the German origination team with day-to-day operations and act as first-level customer support, coordinating inquiries between back office, settlement, trading, credit, accounting, and other relevant stakeholders.
• Support in analyzing market dynamics for structured products such as Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), Sigmoid/Swing, and Swaps.
• Monitoring power market trends (price developments, volatility, seasonal and regional patterns) to inform customer-facing offers and pricing decisions. Assist in reviewing trading terms and comparing pricing components against current market conditions.
• Process Automation: Identify opportunities to automate recurring origination workflows (e.g. reporting, data extraction, CRM updates) and support the build-out of Python-based scripts and tools to streamline data flow and improve efficiency across the team.
• Deal & Contract Support: Support originators in concluding bespoke and standard energy transactions, assist in negotiating and finalizing framework agreements and smaller client offers, and ensure timely coordination with internal stakeholders including Legal, Compliance, and Risk.
• Reporting & Analytics: Assist in the preparation of reports, forecasts, and performance metrics to support the team's commercial activities based on Sales Force Data.

In this role, success means being a reliable and proactive backbone for the German origination team. Over time, the role creates value through consistently high customer satisfaction, accurate and well-maintained data, timely and well-structured reporting, and smooth execution of contracts and customer events. As experience grows, the role increasingly contributes to deal progression and commercial negotiations alongside the Originators.

Your profile

• Strong analytical skills with the ability to work independently in a structured and transparent manner.
• Fluent in German and English.
• Analytical mindset with comfort in data management.
• Experience with Python, Claude-Code, Excel and CRM tools is a bonus.
• Strong communication and client orientation skills.
• Energy, Finance, Physics or related fields are strongly beneficial
