Project Summary

Tetra Tech provides energy expertise and related technical and investment implementation support to clients in Europe and Eurasia focusing on enhancing the resilience, reliability, affordability, and security of the energy and power generation sectors. Our activities include assignments across the region, that cover technical and economic analyses, feasibility and market studies, sector reform, technical due diligence, tendering, supervision, project implementation support. Our international work involves complex projects and coordination of multidisciplinary teams.

Position Summary

Tetra Tech seeks an experienced energy expert to support growth and diversification as well as project-based assignments in the electricity sector across Europe and Eurasia. You will work as part of multidisciplinary teams delivering diverse international projects, with opportunities to contribute to technical leadership, coordinate workstreams, and support team management on complex assignments. Interested candidates must be based and eligible to work in Germany. This position is full-time, and hiring is contingent upon client approval.

Essential Job Functions

  • Support the delivery and management of a portfolio of Tetra Tech ES projects, and contribute to our diversification efforts, with a focus on Europe & Eurasia in line with the overall global growth strategy
  • Support existing projects in our portfolio as well as other global pursuits and technical delivery, particularly in relation to power generation and cogeneration (including coupled with District Heating)
  • Support or lead technical teams to prepare feasibility studies and develop concepts and tender specifications for thermal energy production and use across different sectors e.g. commercial and industrial and buildings
  • Contribute to technical due diligence, preparation of technical specifications and other technical documentation for gas engine and cogeneration facilities
  • Support project implementation units on technical, procurement, and implementation matters including supervision of work including start-up, checking and approval of designs, monitoring progress and quality control
  • Support work related to FIDIC Engineer contract management and implementation
  • Cooperate closely with other Tetra Tech operating units in Europe, with a view to collaborating on new opportunities and approaches to new clients
  • Interact directly with clients and work as part of a team on complex assignment projects
  • Raise Tetra Tech ES’ profile in the market through outreach and knowledge sharing on global emerging practices related to the energy transition and evolving technologies
  • Represent Tetra Tech ES as a thought leader at conferences, webinars and on social media platforms

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree (or Bachelor’s with additional 5 years of relevant experience) in mechanical engineering focusing on energy discipline (including power generation, thermal energy and thermodynamics) or a related field
  • Minimum of 12 years of relevant professional experience in the energy sector. This can include experience in areas such as gas engine and cogeneration facilities, energy efficiency, renewable energy, battery storage systems or similar
  • Experience in feasibility studies, technical due diligence, procurement support, and/or supervision of energy projects
  • Demonstrated experience in technical assessment, procurement, construction, commissioning, or operation of gas engine power generation and/or cogeneration plants.
  • Experience assessing energy efficiency opportunities in different sectors (e.g. commercial and industrial and buildings), including identifying measures and relevant costs as well as preparing related technical specifications and/or reviewing, supervising, and verifying the implementation of projects
  • Experience in working within large teams from diverse backgrounds and skill sets
  • Strong organization/analytical skills; experience working with detailed technical data and reports
  • Good writing and communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex information and deliver verbal and written messages effectively
  • Fluency (speaking, listening, writing, reading) in English
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams
  • Willingness to travel internationally to project locations and conferences.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in design, engineering, procurement and/or supervision gas engines and/or cogeneration projects supervision and quality assurance will be an advantage
  • Experience in working with companies on downstream power generation processes including EPC and O&M contracts
  • Working knowledge of FIDIC contracts and contract administration would be an asset
  • Experience with the Eastern European (particularly Ukraine), Western Balkans and/or Central Asian energy sector
  • Experience in working for consulting, government or energy firms, preferably to include MDBs or donors
  • Oral and written communication skills in Russian and/or Ukrainian

Physical Requirements

  • Frequently remain in a stationary position sitting or standing at a desk

Additional Information

  • Employment type: This is a fulltime position
  • Work schedule: Monday – Friday, standard core business hours (8:30 AM – 5:30 PM local time); some flexibility required to overlap core business hours for team collaboration and occasionally overlap with United States eastern standard time business hours
  • Work location: This position is fully remote with occasional in person team meetings in Berlin (all arrangements subject to review and may change at the company’s discretion)
  • Travel requirements: travel to project locations
  • Line management responsibility: N/A
