About our client

Our client, a corporate venture capital firm in the TMT sector, is looking for a principal / VP to join their German team.

The firm combines the financial discipline of a venture capital investor with the strategic reach, industry expertise and network of a major international technology and telecommunications group. This provides a differentiated investment platform, offering access to emerging technologies, commercial partnership opportunities and a broad network of founders, investors and industry leaders. The team manages the investment cycle end-to-end, from origination to closing and the relationship beyond. As a senior member of the investment team, you will lead transactions, shape the strategic investment agenda alongside the partners, and act as a key link between the portfolio and the corporate business units. The position offers significant autonomy, direct exposure to senior decision-makers and the opportunity to influence investment priorities in a dynamic and evolving technology landscape. You will take ownership of deals end to end, represent the firm with founders and co-investors, and help develop the junior members of the team.

What The Job Involves

• Identify and assess investment opportunities across emerging technology themes, including digital infrastructure, AI-enabled solutions, enterprise software and next-generation connectivity
• Lead deals from sourcing through to closing, including structuring, negotiating terms and running due diligence
• Define strategic ecosystem priorities and investment theses together with the partners and the corporate business units
• Prepare investment proposals and present recommendations to the investment committee
• Take board or board observer seats and work with portfolio companies on strategy, follow-on financing and exit planning
• Identify opportunities for commercial partnerships and strategic collaboration between portfolio companies and the broader corporate ecosystem
• Build and maintain a senior network of entrepreneurs, co-investors and strategic business leaders
• Contribute to the long-term development of the investment platform, including thematic research, market positioning and ecosystem engagement
• Coach and develop associates and analysts, and review their financial models, market analyses and investment materials
  
  

Who we are looking for

• 6-8 years of experience in venture capital or growth equity, possibly after a start in banking, management consulting or a start-up environment
• A proven track record of leading transactions and supporting portfolio companies
• Strong understanding of technology and market trends, ideally with knowledge of the telecommunications and IT sectors
• Advanced financial analysis, valuation and modelling skills, with sound commercial judgement
• Strong network in the European tech and venture ecosystem
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, and comfort working with founders and senior corporate leaders
• Fluency in English is essential, German language skills are a plus
