Shine
Shine is the financial copilot for entrepreneurs and small business owners.

Founded by serial entrepreneurs Rico Andersen and Martin Hegelund, Shine is a leading European fintech unicorn on a mission to restore the joy of running a business, by ending wasted time on financial admin. Shine offers a connected solution for invoicing, accounting, payroll, business accounts, payments, and financing, meaning business owners can focus their energy on growing a healthy business, not held back by manual admin.

Part of something bigger

Today we're part of Cegid, a European leader in cloud software for finance and accounting. Together we're building Europe's leading financial copilot for small businesses and their accountants.

Shine already supports more than 400,000 small businesses. As part of Cegid, we now reach over one million small businesses and 15,000 accountants across Europe.

We're a multicultural team working from France, Germany, Denmark and the Netherlands, contributing to a wider European network that spans Spain, Portugal and Belgium.

Your Hiring Experience Matters

Just as we respect our customers' time, we respect yours. Your experience with Shine and Cegid should feel simple, transparent and genuinely supportive.

If this sounds like somewhere you want to grow, we'd love to hear from you.

The Tax & Year-End team at Shine

Year-end is a key part of every accountant's calendar: closing the books, producing the annual accounts and filing the tax return. Today, most of that time goes into manual bookkeeping and admin. Our mission is to change that, so accountants can automate more of their work and spend their time giving clients strategic advice. We're building a new year-end product from scratch and launching it as a standalone product in a new market.

Your role as a Staff Product Designer

As our Staff Product Designer, you'll take this product from zero to one. You'll run research with accountants to understand how year-end works, test concepts early and shape what the product becomes. You'll make decisions together with your product manager and engineering manager as a trio, and as the product grows, you'll help it scale to other markets. You'll also manage and mentor other designers in this area.

Why you'd want this role

  • You get the pace and ownership of a startup, with the support and design maturity of an established company.
  • Your work has a direct line to business impact.
  • You'll work closely with the people making the key decisions.
  • You'll shape the design strategy for a whole new area.

Your Responsibilities Will Include

  • Taking the product from problem–solution fit to product market fit through experiments and small iterations
  • Managing and mentoring designers in this area, and fostering psychological safety
  • Working with designers and teams across Shine, through design critiques and when a feature depends on them

Job located in Berlin & Amsterdam with possibility of two remote working days per week

About You

You have 7+ years of design experience, including at least 2–3 years at senior level. You're hands-on with a strong focus on craft, you use AI in your design workflow, and you speak fluent English.

What We Need

  • You're comfortable starting from a blank page: you've turned early, unfinished thinking into a first version, testing as you go, in an organisation that changes often.
  • You've managed and mentored designers, ideally for two years or more. We'll explore what that looked like in the interview.
  • You've worked in a design team with multiple designers.
  • You've designed a product that scaled into different markets.
  • You've worked in accounting, tax, finance or a similar field.

Nice to have

  • You speak German.
  • You move easily between big-picture vision and detail.
  • You've shipped products with AI features.

What We're Looking For In Your Portfolio

A project where you started from a blank page and got to a first version, with testing along the way.

Our recruitment process

A 30' intro call with Saskia to get to know each other & talk through your experience

A 45' interview with Ashley to dive deeper into your background and the specific role.

A 90' portfolio review and live design critique — walk us through work that shows how you think, not just what you shipped.

A personality assessment and a conversation with senior leadership to round things off.
