YOUR CHALLENGE AT WIRE
As Senior Product Manager, German Public Sector & Defence, you make sure Wire builds the right product for one of its most strategically important markets. You combine customer and market engagement with product leadership across one or more of our value streams, such as messaging, calling, file sharing and core platform capabilities. Along the way, you build a deep understanding of German public sector and defence customers and bring that context into our product organisation.

Customer, market and commercial
- You build trusted relationships with customers, prospects and partners and represent Wire’s product organisation in senior product discussions.
- Together with Sales and Partnerships, you work on major opportunities, RFPs and tenders, bring credible product expertise and assess customer requirements.
- You keep track of the commercial pipeline, strategic customer commitments and emerging market opportunities.
- You agree clear goals, desired outcomes and priorities with one or more value streams, in line with Wire’s product strategy.
- You translate customer and market needs into clearly framed product problems and opportunities for scope teams and engineering teams.
- You bring customer, commercial and business context into key product and prioritisation decisions, so the teams understand the reasons behind the priorities.
- You identify dependencies across value streams and coordinate product direction where customer needs span several parts of the Wire platform.
- You work closely with Information Security where customer requirements involve security, assurance, accreditation or regulation, with clear accountability between product and security.
- Together with Product Marketing and the commercial team, you make sure the product’s capabilities and direction are represented accurately in the market.
- You build trusted working relationships with key customers, prospects and commercial stakeholders from government and defence in Germany.
- You agree clear goals for the value streams you support and set clear product direction for the highest-value cross-product opportunities.
What You Bring
- Proven experience working directly with senior customers and commercial stakeholders and translating their needs into product direction.
- Strong product judgement: you separate underlying customer problems from requested solutions, and individual requests from broader market opportunities.
- Experience setting product goals and outcomes and influencing the priorities of scope teams and engineering teams.
- Strong commercial awareness and the ability to communicate credibly with technical and non-technical audiences and to make clear trade-offs.
- Experience with the German public sector or defence organisations such as the Bundeswehr, BWI, BAAINBw, federal ministries or their suppliers, ideally with your own network in this environment.
- Experience with products for government, defence, critical infrastructure or other highly regulated customers, as well as with public procurement and complex sales cycles.
- Experience with secure communications, collaboration software, enterprise SaaS or security-focused technology products.
- Understanding of digital sovereignty requirements in Germany and Europe.
- Experience working across several product teams or value streams.
- An existing Ü2/Ü3 security clearance, or eligibility and willingness to obtain one.
- Join a market-proven company with more than 1,000 customers and help make Wire the trusted partner for secure communications, for organisations that care deeply about security and privacy.
- Share in Wire’s long-term success through VSOPs.
- 30 days of holiday, so you can take well-deserved time off and keep a healthy work-life balance.
- An Urban Sports Club membership helps you stay balanced and mentally and physically healthy.
- We invest in your professional development, with an annual learning budget of €1,000 and access to first-class learning resources.
- Work from our beautiful office in the heart of Berlin, or choose a mix of working from anywhere and selected office days together to connect with the team in person.
- Enjoy fresh breakfast in the office, daily fruit, snacks, free soft drinks and a good barista coffee machine.
